Damit konnte man bunte Glasteile in biegsame Bleistege fassen und so beliebig Mosaik-Motive gestalten – in der Kathedrale von Chartres wurden 176 solcher Glasfenster in die Wandlöcher eingesetzt, alle von einer künstlerischen Qualität, die revolutionär war.<br /> Die meisten Fenster sind in Blau gehalten, dem einzigartigen „Chartres-Blau“, das bis heute seine Leuchtkraft nicht verloren hat: Spektakulär sind die Lichtspiele, die sich am Boden bilden und mit dem Lauf der Sonne durch die Kathedrale wandern.
