King Henry II ruled from 1154 through 1189, when he died, and renovations on the castle were ongoing from 1179 to 1188. This would have been his bedroom. No air conditioning and I have no idea how they heated this place in the winter. Big open fireplaces and the tapestries hanging on the walls were to keep the heat in the rooms. <br /> <br /> Henry II didn't live at Dover full time. He had &quot;winter&quot; and &quot;summer&quot; palaces like all the other Kings and Queens in Europe and England. Although there are no pictures here from Nina Gilligan's show on Saturday night, she had me and a couple of other audience members up on stage dancing and singing to I Will Survive at the finale of her show in front of a packed house. I will never ever forget that moment!<br /> <br /> And I also got to meet a bit of a personal hero in Rob Kemp who is responsible for one of my favourite ever comedy shows - The Elvis Dead.<br /> <br /> As well as all hat we met some amazing people. I like to think that this is of course a Spitfire overflying the castle. With a bubble hood, stubby wingtips and four-bladed propeller, an LF Mk.XVI I reckon.
