On the night of the bombing on 24-25 February 1944, almost the entire interior of the church was destroyed by a fire. After the war, the church was rebuilt in a makeshift fashion. Between 2010 and 2013, the church was renovated and redesigned by the London architect and designer John Pawson in a very clear and minimalist style. <br />
<br />
The organ (called "Mauritiusorgel") was built in 1973 and underwent extensive restoration in 2013. The oak casing of the organ was stained dark as part of the redesign of the church interior in accordance with the specified colour scheme.<br />
