Mount Shasta (/ˈʃæstə/ SHASS-tə; Shasta: Waka-nunee-Tuki-wuki; Karuk: Úytaahkoo) is a potentially active stratovolcano at the southern end of the Cascade Range in Siskiyou County, California. At an elevation of 14,179 ft (4,322 m), it is the second-highest peak in the Cascades and the fifth-highest in the state. Mount Shasta has an estimated volume of 85 cubic miles (350 cubic kilometers), which makes it the most voluminous stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc. The mountain and surrounding area are part of the Shasta–Trinity National Forest.<br />

<p>While walking around and exploring the area around the Bunny Flat Trailhead with a view looking to the northeast across this mountain landscape with small trees and other plant-life and then an evergreen forest off in the distance. Mount Shasta is the backdrop that seemingly rises into the skies above. This is located in Shasta–Trinity National Forest. I chose to angle my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward, so that I could bring the horizon and mountain peak higher into the image. I felt that might help bring out a sense of grandeur to the entire setting.</p>

<p>While walking around the Lake Shastina area in Edgewood, California. The setting is to the southeast with a view across a grassy meadow that is likely a portion of the dried up lakebed. What I wanted to capture with this image was to get down behind some of the nearby grasses, angling my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward, and bring the horizon a little higher into the image. I wanted the distant forest with hillsides and Mount Shasta to be higher into the image. I figured that would bring out more of a sense of grandeur with the setting. The rest was closing down on the aperture to bring out more of a starburst look with the sun and working with the exposure to not blow any highlights while still being able to later pull out the more shadowed areas later on in post-production.</p>
