<p>Canton's FAWC Pool 56 034 'Castell Ogwr / Ogmore Castle' works a loaded rake of ARC PGAs on the reversible-working line at Westerleigh curve, on April 19th 1988.<br />

<p>Ogmore Castle (Welsh: Castell Ogwr) is a Grade I listed castle ruin located near the village of Ogmore in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, east of Ogmore-by-Sea, and south of the town of Bridgend. It is situated on the south bank of the Ewenny River and the east bank of the River Ogmore.[1]<br />
<br />
Its construction might have begun in 1106. Ogmore was one of three castles built in the area in the early 12th century, the others being Coity Castle and Newcastle Castle. It was in use until the 19th century for a range of purposes, including a court of justice and a prison, but is now a substantial set of remains and a local landmark. [WIKI]</p>

This sad looking sign, well weathered and faded, depicts GWR 'Castle' class locomotive, 7007 'Great Western'. Built in July 1946 and named 'Ogmore Castle', it was to be the final passenger express steam engine to be built at Swindon Locomotive Works. 7007 was withdrawn in February 1963, while allocated to Wolverhampton shed, and scrapped at John Cashmore Ltd, Newport in January 1964.</p>

<p>The 41 stones that comprise 'St. Teilo's steps' are believed to have been laid around the same time as the adjacent Ogmore castle was constructed, so they date from the early 1100's.<br />
The steps provided a crossing over the Ewenny river from the castle to early religious sites in nearby Merthyr Mawr,<br />
Over the centuries, many of the stones have settled a little, so that at high tide, the tops of some stones are below the water surface, making waterproof shoes highly recommended!</p>

<p>Warm light from an early morning winter sun low in the sky bathes Ogmore castle, south Wales.<br />
The castle dates from the 12th century. The earth mounds and moat (fed by the adjacent Ogmore river) and the stepping stones that cross the river at this point, all date from the castle's earliest days. Parts of the castle were still in use in the early 19th century as a court room and prison.<br />
