<p>Back at the hotel it continued to rain while we had a little rest. I took this photo through the landing window. You can see the tower of the Church of St Giles on the left and in the background is the Cathedral of St Vitus towering over the buildings of Prague Castle.</p>

<p>Here are two views of Wenceslas on his horse as we walked through Lucerna Passage!<br />

<i>The most famous sight inside the passage is Horse, the provocative sculpture by David Černý. It shows St Wenceslas sitting on the belly of a dead upside-down horse, suspended from the ceiling of the Lucerna arcade.<br />
The work is an ironic response to the famous equestrian statue of St Wenceslas at the top of Wenceslas Square. Like many of Černý’s sculptures, it is funny, unsettling and political at the same time.<br />
For many visitors, the upside-down horse is the main reason to step inside Lucerna Passage. It is one of Prague’s most photographed modern artworks and a perfect example of the city’s dark humour.</i> (From Prague-guide.co.uk)</p>

<p>Toujours à la même adresse. Cette entrée mérite à elle seule qu'on s'y attarde. Le linteau cintré au-dessus du portail porte un relief en stuc d'une richesse assez étonnante pour de la Sécession géométrique : guirlandes suspendues à des médaillons ovales, pampilles et glands courant le long de l'arc, registre inférieur de triangles et de disques presque abstraits, le tout organisé dans une symétrie parfaite autour d'un motif central en pointe. Je ne sais pas si les bijoux égyptiens ressemblaient exactement à cela, mais ils en ont manifestement inspiré les formes. On retrouve ici le vocabulaire décoratif associé à l'école de Jan Kotěra, dont František Cuc était l'élève : une Sécession géométrique influencée par Vienne, plus sobre et plus disciplinée que les courbes végétales de l'Art nouveau franco-belge.<br />

À droite du portail, une discrète plaque ornée de la fleur de lys du scoutisme rappelle qu'Antonín Benjamin Svojsík a vécu ici de 1914 à 1938. Installée en 2002, elle passe facilement inaperçue face au décor monumental qui l'entoure. La grille en fer forgé qui ferme aujourd'hui le passage est probablement postérieure à la construction. Avec ses barreaux massifs et ses pointes, elle tranche avec la finesse du décor en stuc. Pourtant, ce contraste fonctionne plutôt bien : il donne à l'entrée un caractère presque théâtral, où la délicatesse des ornements semble protéger un espace devenu, avec le temps, plus fermé et plus mystérieux.<br />
