I've just returned from another of my visits to South Wales. Last time in the summer, conditions were a challenge but I coped pretty well. This time - the flat overcast skies sapped my motivation and concentration more than I'd like. Oh well, I did grab a few photos worth sharing - starting with this one!... <br />
<br />
Conditions at Rhossili were very different from my first visit last summer. On this occasion I was faced a flat, colourless sky and an incoming high tide.<br />
<br />
So, I decided to use the elements to my advantage to make a minimalist image of the Helvetia wreck on the beach.<br />
<br />
I fully extended the tripod to look down on the wreck as much as possible to show the shape of the ship.<br />
<br />
As the tide came in, I popped off a few long exposures to flatten the sea - in order to exaggerate the minimal scene.<br />
<br />
I was a little concerned that my tripod might have sunk a little as the waves gently lapped its feet - causing unwanted blur... but I think I got away with that! <br />

<p>Castell y Gwynt is a top of Glyder Fach in Snowdonia, north-west Wales. It has the merit of being the only 3000 ft Welsh summit classed as only a Nuttall, hence it is not included in the Welsh 3000s. It has a prominence of 15.7 m, and was only included on the Nuttall's list after re-surveying in 2007</p>

<p>A late running NT32, Brisbane to Sydney XPT, Powers up from the up home signal at Killawarra after waiting for Pacific National's 6MB4 super freighter to enter the loop. <br />
<br />
Killawarra is some 360 rail km's from Sydney's Central station and has a crossing loop of 1695 metres and is the first crossing loop south of Taree on the North Coast line of New South Wales. <br />
