<p>Commentary.<br />
<br />
As I have intimated before, almost every county in England<br />
have their beautiful and iconic villages.<br />
Suffolk certainly has more than its fair share.<br />
Kersey lies in a shallow valley and the stream flows eastwards across the High Street in the form of a “ford,” a tributary of the River Brett, that then flows southwards, to the west of the nearby town of Hadleigh.<br />
The main road and several side roads are blessed with many multi-coloured, half-timbered cottages.<br />
The Bell is the only Public House, just north of the ford.<br />
Though small, the village still has a Primary School, Village Hall, Playing Field and Tennis Court.<br />
At the top of the southern slope into the village stands the imposing and impressive St. Mary’s Parish Church, yet another sign of Medieval wealth, generated by a thriving Wool Industry.<br />
As far as I could see, there are no shops, so presumably<br />
villagers must travel to Hadleigh, Boxford or Sudbury for supplies.<br />
Picturesque villages are a famous feature of rural England<br />
and Kersey certainly ticks all the boxes.<br />
Truly memorable, and fit for any Chocolate Box or calendar.</p>
