No, not really. That word’s too conscious, too deliberate. Let me repeat the question: “Can someone please tell me why so many of us gravitate toward dying young, in one way or another?” Why are we so inclined to do so? Why do we have this predisposition? Is it a predisposition?<br /> <br /> Why do we keep falling into the same self-destructive habits, again and again, as if pulled by some invisible gravity? Why do we get caught up in these tendencies? Why is it so hard to escape them? Why do we even build those habits in the first place? Why? Do we not like this life? Is it unbearable? Can we not see what a miracle being alive is? Has any of you ever stopped for a second to look around and wonder?<br /> <br /> In fact, why is almost every single way we celebrate being alive a self-destructive act against this only thing we have? This life that doesn't even feel like it is ours but borrowed! A gift! Why are we so eager to give it away?<br /> <br /> Do you my friend ever wonder that? You brother over there?! My sister, you must have an answer!? Please tell me why, I am all ears! One of you must know, or at least I hope one of you does!<br /> <br /> Why are we so numb?<br /> Do we really want to die young?<br /> <br /> I don't think we do. In fact I don't even think we realise how close the reaper is always standing behind us waiting.<br /> <br /> But then again, you will ask me, Christo: “What is death in front of shame, eh?”<br /> <br /> You know what?
