<p>Dated as 1713 and confirmed with a date stone, it sits east of Ryeburn Walk on Davyhulme Road. A two storied house of rendered brick it has a graduated stone slate roof. The front door carries a date of 1717 it was used as an inner door as there was a porch prior to the entry. The door itself originates from the Davyhulme Hall giving reason for the difference in date. This porch has a casement window on the first floor and shows the date stone initialled as J W M. Suggested is Wright, John and Mary but there is reference a family called Mather in early records. To complete the detail, it has gable chimney stacks with three diagonally set shafts in brick. Inside there are moulded beams and a dog legged staircase with turned balusters. Several outbuildings survive that include many pigsties.<br />
<br />
All ladies for 1891 Sarah Dennis and Rachel Richardson began the farming list. Miss Elizabeth Richardson took the farm in 1898 then John Robertson 1901 became a farmer here, with Alf Wood 1909, Tom Molyneux in 1911, and John Pollitt 1919, to name a few following. In recent times this has become known as Days a dairy farm, even later it has been used as a cattery. Building land for development and surrounding the farm became available in 1965. This farm was listed in 1978 as Grade 2 but the outbuildings were de-listed in 2018.<br />
<br />
Although the farm carries this historical recognition it does not open to the public for viewing.</p>

<p>The Currier Museum of Art celebrates a summer of photography with "Danny Lyon: The Bikeriders" a celebration of motorcycle culture and brotherhood. <br />
<br />
As part of the Bikeriders exhibition, the Currier Museum held the "Leather & Lace" dance party/ball. As part of the celebration, the Currier invited me to photograph attendees in the lobby, and we provided printed photographs the could take home of themselves and their friends at no charge.<br />
<br />
I think it went off rather stupendously.<br />

<p>At long last! On my first trip down to Manchester at the start of last year, while I got my shots in of a few of Stagecoach's new Enviro400EVs, I missed out on Metroline Manchester's by a couple of months by virtue of them not being ready for service yet. Happily, though, that record has since been set straight on this most recent trip into Piccadilly Gardens, and I can confirm that Metroline's Enviro400EVs are... more or less identical compared to Stagecoach's. Truly exciting stuff.<br />
<br />
Finally another type captured in service, Metroline Manchester's ADE543, a 2024 ADL Enviro400EV, is seen heading through Piccadilly Gardens bus station on a 38 to the Logistics North complex via Swinton.</p>

<p>If you recall, part of Metroline's acquisition of Sharston depot from Stagecoach Manchester when Tranche 3 came around included the depot's full fleet of 32 BYD ADL Enviro400EVs delivered in late 2019/early 2020, likely dumped on Metroline by virtue of being relatively non-standard. Since then, all have lost their Stagecoach identities for either Bee Network uniform yellow or, in BDE221's case, a strangely ubiquitous advertising campaign for British Supplements. Who are they? God only knows, but it isn't my thing by the sounds of it.<br />
<br />
One of many of this type to carry an all-over advertisement for British Supplements, Metroline Manchester's BDE221, a 2019 BYD ADL Enviro400EV new to Stagecoach Manchester as their 14028, later becoming 84028 amid a reorganisation of electric vehicle fleet numbers, is seen stood between services at Piccadilly Gardens bus station.</p>

<p>A booklet giving details of the extension to the Kearsley Generating Station of the Lancashire Electric Power Company that was formally inaugurated by the Rt. Hon. The Earl of Derby on 21 December 1936. It gives details of the history of the company and its generating stations that were situated at Radcliffe, Padiham and Kearsley.<br />
<br />
The LEP Co. was formed in 1900 with generation and supply powers to a large area of Lancashire south of the River Ribble. Its first station was opened at Radcliffe, on the River Irwell, on 9 October 1905. The company was required to develop a large system of distribution mains and cables to serve its area of supply. During WW1, to help cope with the demand for electricity from industry, the LEP entered into a coordination scheme with two of the municipal undertakings that had at first opposed the company's powers; Manchester and Salford. These inter-connections across Lancashire pre-dated the schemes that were developed with Government backing from the 1920s onwards that were to make bulk supply of electricity a more effective arrangement and to the development of the National Grid. The company's second generating station, at Padiham, opened in 1926 and this was followed in 1929 by the first stages of the station at Kearsley, again on the Irwell and just north of Salford's Agecroft station. These can be seen in the maps included in the booklet.<br />
<br />
The booklet gives details of the extension at Kearsley that were undertaken to the requirements of the Central Electricity Board that was helping to undertake a standardisation across the British electricity industry and promoting better efficiency in the generation field. As part of the CEB's schemes all three of the LEP's stations were "selected" and they frequently held records for thermal efficiency. It gives details of the equipment including the new turbo-generators by the British Thomson-Houston Co. Ltd and the associated works.<br />
<br />
The LEP would be Nationalised in 1948, the three generating stations passing to the British Electricity Authority, latterly the CEGB, and the distribution and supply network to the North Western Electricity Board. Radcliffe was closed in 1959, Padiham "A" in 1969 although the Padiham "B" station opened in 1959 survived until 1993, and Kearsley was decommissioned in 1981.<br />
<br />
The station had its own internal electric railway for handing coal and ash. The photos show this system including Locomotive No. 2 and LEP coal wagon No. 195; the latter would have been used to supply coal from local collieries. The system ran on 550v DC and eventually had four locomotives several of which are preserved.</p>
