Cae Fadog, adjoining Dinas Oleu, is dominated by heath, and the scarcity of lowland heath gives it a special importance. Plants found here include Birdsfoot Trefoil and Wild Thyme. The frequency of flowering herbs is an important feature, providing good nectar for insects such as Solitary Bees and Hoverflies. The Linnet and the Meadow Pipit have been seen nesting on the site, and the Chough and the Peregrine Falcon have been seen flying overhead.</p>

Sitting above Barmouth overlooking Cardigan Bay and the Llŷn peninsula is Dinas Oleu; a gorse covered hillside that saw the beginnings of the National Trust take place.<br />
<br />
On 29 March 1895, Dinas Oleu became the first piece of land that they would protect for everyone, for ever. The 4.5 acres of land was donated by Mrs Fanny Talbot, a reasonably wealthy land owner, philanthropist and friend of Octavia Hill and Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley, two of their founders.<br />
<br />
Mrs Talbot was born in 1824 in Bridgwater, Somerset. She moved to Ty'n-y-Ffynon, on the slopes of Dinas Oleu, following her husband’s death, George Tertius Talbot in 1873 and devoted herself to local philanthropic work.<br />
<br />
Mrs Talbot saw the importance of our nation’s heritage and open spaces and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy; as was the founders vision when they established the charity in 1895.<br />
<br />
When Mrs Fanny Talbot donated this piece of land little did she know that it would grow to be Europe’s largest conservation charity.</p>

<p>3 photos from today , my first time out using the new to me nikon 500mm f4 vr .. I won't post this mornings shots as I totally messed up using entirely the wrong settings . but thanks to help from my lad it's now up and running properly .your never to old to learn</p>
