Eigentlich wollte ich in dem sonst immer frei zugänglichen Burggarten fotografieren, die Burgtore waren jedoch leider geschlossen. Der knapp 30 m hohe Bergfried mit dem Mond dahinter gibt aber auch ein schönes Motiv ab,<br /> Das Viltrox 35mm 1.8 an meiner Nikon Z7ii macht hier einen großartigen Job. Man erkennt die Sterne (z.B. Pleiaden), scharf stellen war nicht leicht in der Finsternis, es ist aber trotz Gegenlicht alles recht scharf und das obwohl ich diese Aufnahme (wie alle anderen auf meinen jüngsten Nachtwanderungen) aus der Hand aufgenommen habe. Die ISO 12.800 lässt jedoch das Gemäuer ein wenig verwaschen aussehen. Dennoch bin ich zufrieden, Kamera und Objektiv sehen besser als mein menschliches Auge.<br /> .<br /> Hirschhorn Castle was built around 1260 and towers high above the small town of the same name. I had actually intended to take photos in the castle garden—which is usually open to the public—but unfortunately, the castle gates were closed. However, the keep (standing nearly 30 meters tall) with the moon behind it makes for a beautiful subject.<br /> The Viltrox 35mm f/1.8 on my Nikon Z7 II does a fantastic job here. You can make out the stars (such as the Pleiades); focusing wasn't easy in the darkness, yet everything is quite sharp despite the backlight—and that’s even though I shot this handheld (just like all the others on my recent night hikes). The ISO 12,800 setting does make the stonework look a bit washed out, though. It is located in the Eider-Treene lowlands, at the confluence of the tributary Treene river with the much larger Eider river approximately 12 km (7 miles) south of the town of Husum. With its more than 2,500 residents Friedrichstadt is a climatic heath resort. Tourism is the main economic sector of the town, which is particularly popular as a destination for day-trippers.<br /> <br /> Friedrichsstadt was founded relatively late in 1621 as the result of a plan by Duke Frederick III of Schleswig-Gottorf to develop his duchy into the hub of a trading route extending from Spain through Russia to the East Indies. To establish a major trading port on the North Sea coast, he invited Dutch settlers – then Europe's leading experts in hydraulic engineering and commerce – to settle in his territory. In particular, he welcomed Remonstrants who were facing religious persecution in the Netherlands. He offered them religious freedom in an exile settlement where Dutch would serve as the official language. In doing so, he followed the example of his uncle and rival, Christian IV, King of Denmark and Duke of Schleswig and Holstein, who had founded Glückstadt on the Elbe in 1617 for similar reasons and using similar methods.<br /> <br /> By 1625, the entire southern half of the town – the so-called Vorderstadt (in English: &quot;Front Town&quot;), which includes the market square – had been completed. Frederick III also sought to attract Spanish Jews to Friedrichstadt, as they were regarded as particularly well educated and commercially skilled. However, the Spanish, who viewed Friedrichstadt as a Dutch rival, prevented this migration as well as Frederick's plans to develop a profitable salt trade. <br /> <br /> As a result, it was not until 1675 that German Jews settled in Friedrichstadt. For a time, they formed the town's second-largest religious community. As Friedrichstadt continued to expand rapidly, many more settlers of various religious denominations established themselves in the town. These included German and Danish Lutherans, Catholics, Quakers, Unitarians, and Mennonites.<br /> <br /> The settlement developed only slowly because the Thirty Years' War, which from 1626 onward also had a severe impact on southern Schleswig and Holstein. In 1630, the Remonstrants were once again permitted to practice their faith in their homeland, prompting many of them to return to the Netherlands. As a result, the anticipated economic prosperity never materialized. Nevertheless, in 1633, Friedrichstadt was granted town privileges. <br /> <br /> Between 1633 and 1637 Frederick III sent a delegation to Tsar Michael I of Russia and to Shah Safi of Persia with a view to setting up Friedrichstadt as a European trade terminus. However, the goal of creating a regular trading route that did not need to pass around Africa was not achieved, the delegation proved fruitless and the town did not become as successful as anticipated. In 1643, following rumors that Swedish forces were advancing, the sluice gates were opened, deliberately flooding the entire area surrounding Friedrichstadt. After the Danish king had the Gottorf fortress at Tönning demolished in 1715, plans were briefly considered to construct a new fortress in Friedrichstadt.<br /> <br /> The conflicts sparked by the rise of nationalism in the mid-nineteenth century brought tragedy to the town. Until the autumn of 1850, the Schleswig-Holstein War over the Duchy of Schleswig had largely spared the southwestern part of the region. Following the Battle of Idstedt in 1850, the outcome of the war was effectively decided, and the remaining Schleswig-Holstein forces withdrew into Holstein. But they they made one final attempt to recapture Friedrichstadt, which was occupied by Danish troops. The bombardment of the town left many residents and Danish soldiers dead or injured and 285 building including the town hall and the Remonstrant Church were destroyed.<br /> <br /> In 1864, during the Second Schleswig War, Friedrichstadt was occupied without resistance. The entire Duchy of Schleswig came under joint Prussian–Austrian administration and in 1867, became part of the newly established Prussian Province of Schleswig-Holstein. As part of the municipal reform of 1869, the town was incorporated into the newly established District of Schleswig, forming its westernmost point.<br /> <br /> Today, Friedrichstadt is recognized as a cultural heritage site of outstanding significance. The planned town, covering an area of around 17 hectares, was laid out in a grid pattern. The older part of the town, characterized by Dutch Brick Renaissance architecture, is crossed by two canals. The houses from the town's founding period were even built by Dutch master builders using building materials imported from the Netherlands.
