<p>Vintage German postcard. Ross Verlag, 3166/1. DEFU. Leska played supporting parts in the Defu productions Eheskandal im Hause Fromont jun. und Risler sen. (see below) and Thérèse Raquin (Jacques Feyder, 1927/28), starring Gina Manès and Hans Adalbert Schlettow, and adapted from Emile Zola's famous novel. Defu (Deutsche Film-Union) only existed for two years, in 1927-1928, and produced 18 films. <br />
<br />
<b>Peter C. Leska</b> (1890-?) was a possibly Czech, German or Austrian actor, who started his career in the mid-1920s in late silent cinema in Germany, and acted also in German sound films, mostly during the war years. Very little is known about him. <br />
<br />
Leska debuted in a supporting part in Wenn der junge Wein blüht (shot in 1926, released January 1927), directed by Carl WIlhelm, and starring Egon von Jordan and Hanni Weisse. After more supporting parts, e.g. in Eheskandal im Hause Fromont jun. und Risler sen. (1927) by A. W. Sandberg, and Abwege (1928) bij G.W. Pabst, Leska had a lead opposite Mary Kid in the saucy Austrian film Die verschwundene Frau (Karl Hans Leiter, 1928-29), in which Leska's Dr Steiner first meets Kid's Dr. Karsten in an embarrassing scene for her: while bathing in a lake, a dog steals her clothes. <br />
<br />
After a major part in the Austrian late silent film Das weiße Paradies (1929) by Max Neufeld, Leska's film career dwindled down in the early 1930s, apart from a supporting part in the Edgar Wallace-adaptation Der Zinker (1931) by Carl Lamač and Martin Frič. In the years 1938-42 Leska acted in several films, but always in minor, even uncredited parts, in 1942-43 he was also twice production manager, for Der ewige Klang (Günther Rittau, 1942-43) and Aufruhr der Herzen (Hans Müller, 1942-43), both starring Rudolf Prack.</p>
