Peak District

We took a day to travel about an hour north of Birmingham to visit the Peak District of England.

<p>The western edges of the Kinder Scout plateau of Derbyshire's part of the Peak District National Park, known also as the Dark Peak. This was taken a few yards inside Cheshire (the wall and foreground vegetation) so although not strictly a Cheshire scene it is a view <u>from</u> Cheshire's Pym Chair viewpoint !</p>

<p>Yesterday morning - early sun lighting up the landscape outside Alstonefield. Looks warm but it was very cold, frost in the grass and a lively wind made it bracing to say the least!<br />
<br />
Last Friday I finally became redundant from work (only 15 months and several "stays of execution" after we were first informed of our factory closure) so I took the opportunity for a very long day out in the Peak District. Walked from dawn to dusk (20+ miles) on a day of big skies and deep mud (the ground is saturated so field walking very trying). Hoping to get out more now I've finished work, and we've bought a house in Ashbourne which will reduce my journey to places like this by 85 miles!</p>
