<p>Tushielaw Tower is perched on a small terrace on the side of a hill with the same name, 500 yards and some way above the junction of the B709 and the B711. Hidden in the trees just beyond the road junction is the Tushielaw Inn - an ancient 'watering hole'! This view looks north-east, in the direction the Ettrick Water heads to join the Tweed.</p>

The use of monochrome is an attempt to hide the temporary galvanised steel fences that surrounded the abbey while it was undergoing renovation. The Abbey dating back to the twelfth century stands largely in ruins following successive wars during the sixteenth and seventeenth century. There is an excellent museum in the grounds and is well worth a visit. There is a reasonable summary of its rich history documented in Wikipedia.<br />
